Abstract:

The Lisa Gerrard papers include her curriculum vita, dissertation abstract, documentation of her feminist activity in Berkeley outside of the University of California, materials related to Women's Studies at UC Berkeley, political documents and files regarding proposed courses on women and literature from the UC Berkeley Comparative Literature Department, feminist literary and women's studies journals, and teaching materials Gerrard developed for Women's Studies courses. The collection also contains Gerrard's writings, including selected feminist publications and feminist-themed presentations in women's studies, literature, rhetoric and composition, and computers and writing. The first folder includes Gerrard's inventories of materials. Please note the lists are not completely accurate. There is also a poster of Golda Meier with the caption, "But can she type?"

Lisa Gerrard received her B.A. and Ph.D. in Comparative Literature from the University of California, Berkeley in 1968 and 1979, respectively. While at Berkeley, she was a member of the Comparative Literature Women's Caucus. Gerrard has been a lecturer in the University of California, Los Angeles Writing Program since 1980. Her fields of research and teaching include Women's Studies, rhetoric and composition, computers and composition, and foreign language writing. Her publications include software packages for student writers (in English and Spanish); textbooks for students writing in French, Spanish, or English; and scholarly works in women's studies, nineteenth-century literature, and rhetoric and composition.
